I warmly welcome Lewis Hamilton’s report on improving representation in (UK) motorsport. The Commission he’s established will surely make an important and timely contribution to the ongoing need to provide opportunities, on a level playing field, to young people of different ethnic backgrounds who want to join, work and enjoy motorsport. I support the Commission’s recommendations for F1 teams to adopt diversity and inclusion charter, establish scholarships and for teams and racing businesses to provide apprenticeships to people from diverse backgrounds. At a global level the FiA has a vital role to play in this and as the report highlights co-operation will be essential to push forward these ground-breaking initiatives.
Diversity and inclusion is a fundamental pillar for the development of motorsport and I, and my Leadership Team, speak as one in pledging our energy and hard work to making this a reality once we are elected to the FIA.
