Mohammed ben Sulayem and the entire leadership team of FIA For Members are delighted with the announcement that the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) and Motorsport UK, have endorsed his bid for the presidency of the FIA.

Speaking at the iconic Royal Automobile Club headquarters in London Ben Cussons, Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club and David Richards, Chair of Motorsport UK outlined their joint position ahead of the December 17 FIA Presidential Election.

Mr Cussons outlined how the FIA needed evolution, a new leadership and good governance, while Mr Richards stated the Federation had to change to meet the challenges ahead for the sport and the industry.

For these reasons, they explained, both clubs had decided to back Mohammed ben Sulayem and his team as they offered a compelling vision for the future. You can see the full video interview here.

Mohammed ben Sulayem, candidate for the presidency of the FIA said: “This is an honour as well as welcome recognition for all the work we have put into this campaign. To be endorsed by two such august clubs, from a country that is regarded by many as the home of motorsport, is truly humbling as well as energising. My team and I are grateful and if elected, we will always consider the support and advice of the RAC and Motorsport UK a valuable and essential addition to our evolutionary plans for the future.”

Robert Reid, candidate for Deputy President Sport, said: “As a British World Champion rally driver I could not be prouder to know that the UK Member clubs have come out in support of our FIA For Members election campaign. I have motorsport at heart and to know that the RAC and Motorsport UK are with us in this election is a unique and special experience.”

David Richards, Chair of Motorsport UK, said: “Our decision to support FIA for Members and Mohammed ben Sulayem is based on the belief that motorsport is going through a period of significant challenges and change. We need dynamic and imaginative leadership that is prepared to drive a new approach to problem-solving in a fully open and democratic way.”
